Discotectonica semisquamosa (Bronn, 1831) (Mollusca – Gastropoda – Architectonicidae). È una specie piuttosto rara più frequente, solitamente in sedimenti argillosi profondi nel Pliocene inferiore.

Original description / Descrizione originale :

Solarium semisquamosum

Testa orbiculato-subconoidea; anfractibus circinnatim subtiliter sulcatis; sulcis aeque subtilibus et distantibus verticalibus in anfractibus superioribus; facie inferna prope marginem acutum subincavatum stria elevata cincta; sulco umbilicum mediocrem plicatulo-crenulatum cingente.

Distribution

From Miocene to Pleistocene: Várpalota (Hungary), Montebaranzone, Montegibbio (Emilia Romagna), Sant’Agata, Stazzano (Piedmont), Reggio Calabria (Calabria); Tortonia stage. Tetti Borelli (Piedmont) Messinian. Pliocene, in Italy reported for Piedmont, Liguria, Tuscany and Sicily. Pleistocene: Ypseni (Gelasian) and Kritica (Calabrian) in the Rhodes Island. (Greece).
